Brilliant article and yes it is remarkable, extraordinary and most compelling that these distinguished and accomplished citizens of our beloved city are tackling such an enormous task...and the watch word is VOLUNTEER
Although commenting anonymously can be very irritating to participants, I must say in this case “common sense” is spot on! Poor” communication” is mentioned.. “transparency” was overlooked.. Ironically in past Council Meetings I have heard a Councilor or two make reference to those two words in very round about wording, indirectly, referring to our Mayor.
I to Thank the volunteers and participants for their time. Brainstorming from the group may produce some positive avenues…Thank You Paul .
Thank you to the volunteers and Councilor Feldman for getting a jump on this. Part of the frustration many have had over the trash contract, library HVAC, last budget, and City Hall renovation is from poor communication that at least makes it appear that everything is done last minute and poorly. Then “whoopsies” we are short $7 million next year.
I’d like to think it wasn’t a surprise to the administration, but they have earned a healthy dose of mistrust over the past couple years. And they certainly have not been forthcoming with how they propose cutting the deficit, leading me to believe that that are pushing for a 2 1/2 override that will be permanent rather than temporary to fund a capital project.
Ain’t happening in this town kids. So get the knives sharpened because there is going to be a lot of cutting to do.
Thanks to the volunteers. The funding formula just has to be addressed. Also, the summer park programs, which are wonderful, often include, I think, our most vulnerable children. I don’t favor that.
